Since 2010 Cuban and foreign Tourist must provide proof of full coverage for Cuba health and Travel insurance to pass through Cuban immigration and enjoy their holiday on the island of Cuba. Travelers must present or pay for a full coverage Cuba insurance policy complete with Cuban insurance certificate to cover full medical assistance for their holiday while vacationing in Cuba.
Cuba travel guides report that tourist that do do not have proof of insurance coverage while in Cuba are required to buy their Cuban health insurance directly from a Cuban insurance agency as soon as they fly to Cuba.
Foreign holiday and vacationers with temporary residents must also have valid Cuba health insurance policies. Proof of health insurance documents is sufficient for most tourist to visit Cuba, most insurance plans may cover only part of the costs and will not pay the upfront bills so you will have to pay them yourself and then submit a claim when you return from holidays. Cuban Hotel & Resorts recommended that travelers purchase additional Cuban health and Travel insurance because most private insurance companies also insist the tourist pay all hospital and doctor costs up-front only to be reimbursed later. Remember this warning! Cuban authorities will not permit any tourist with unpaid medical bills to leave Cuba. No Money, No Insurance equals No flight to Cuba. The vintage cars are old antiques, the narrow roads are bad and the Cuban drivers a worse so be very careful on your Cuban holiday. Tip Buy insurance before your flight to Cuba.
International health insurance policies are recognized bu Cuban health care system, except U.S. insurance companies because American Insurance Companies cannot provide coverage in Cuba due to the American Embargo of Cuba.
